Just as an example of our high-tech prowess, Austin was picked as one of the first cities to receive Google Fiber with high speed Internet connections that have not been seen before. We have the University of Texas at Austin as well as our Texas state government facilities.We boast #2 in the lowest unemployment rate in the country among top 50 metro areas according to AustinChamber.com. We are always growing and people want to come here and grow with us! The People – Can you ask for cooler people anywhere? I don’t think so. It’s funny…go anywhere in this wonderful state of Texas and you can almost spot an Austinite. We are professional, yet laid back. We work hard, but at the end of the day we play hard too. We tend to be open-minded and willing to try new things.We are an exciting group and we love to have fun!
The Weather – Recently (in the middle of February), a friend of mine was relaxing by her pool while her son and his friend were doing cannonballs into it! It was a beautiful, sunshiny day of about 80 degrees. Yes…In February! We hurt for our friends that are digging out of the snow in the Northeast right now. But, that is just another example of why people are packing up and heading here. We will have cold temperatures soon. You know the saying, “If you don’t like the weather just wait a minute – it will change.” That is certainly true in Austin. But, for the most part, we enjoy days in which we can go to Zilker Park or Lady Bird Lake and enjoy a music festival, paddle board, or just be lazy in the sunshine.
The Events – I can’t even begin to count the number of big events, music festivals, concerts, etc. that are now making sure that Austin is a stop on their tour. We have SXSW and F1 Grand Prix racing which both draw the international community to our amazing city. We also currently host the summer XGames and, of course, you don’t want to miss the ACL Music Festival. Then, as if that isn’t enough to fill your social calendar, every single weekend (and pretty much every weeknight too) there is live music going on in the city. After all, we aren’t called the “Live Music Capital of the World” for nothing!
The Vibe – Our motto is, “Keep Austin Weird!” We really take it to heart. Austin doesn’t like to take things too seriously and we certainly like to think outside the box. As much as we would like to keep our wonderful city a secret (so that only we can enjoy it), we truly welcome all of the newcomers to Austin. Why? (When that is just adding to the traffic – which is NOT a top 5 reason people flock here)!Because we welcome fresh ideas, new friends, and growth. That is our vibe here in Austin.
