Festive (and FREE) Austin

There are so many things happening around Austin in December it’s hard to keep it all straight. There are the usual theater shows and singing groups but here’s a list of events that are family-friendly and free. Can’t get much better than that!

Mozart’s Christmas Light Show, Now – Christmas, Every hour on the hour, 6pm – 1am.

Chuy’s Parade, Saturday, 12/1, 11am. Starts at the Capitol moving south along Congress to Cesar Chavez. Bring a toy to donate to Operation Blue Santa.

Christmas at the Capitol, Saturday, 12/1, Sing-a-long starts at 6pm, Downtown stroll with activities and entertainment, 7 – 9pm.

2nd Annual Merry Movie Night Under the Stars, Charlie Brown Christmas and A Christmas Story. Seating starts at 6pm, Movie 6:30pm, Soleil outdoor patio, 6550 Comanche Trail.

Zilker Tree Lighting Ceremony, Zilker Park, 12/2, 6pm. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Zilker Holiday Tree.

Driskill Hotel Tree Lighting, featuring Kendra Scott. Wednesday, 12/5, 7pm. Check out Driskill’s 12 Days of Christmas for other fun activities throughout the season.

Luminations, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, 12/8 – 12/9, 6 – 9pm, Bring 2 canned food items for Capital Area Food Bank.

SNOW DAY at the Hill Country Galleria, 12 – 4pm, Make a snow angel!

Trail of Lights, 12/16 – 12/23, 6:30pm – 10pm. After a two year absence, the Trail of Lights is back!
